Supporting Safe and Dementia-Friendly Care Environments

Capecare Busselton is a leading aged care and dementia support facility in Western Australia, providing specialised care for residents with complex physical and cognitive needs. The project focused on creating a safe, supportive and intuitive bathroom environment that enhances resident independence while reducing risks for both users and carers.

The Challenge

Bathrooms in dementia and aged care environments must balance safety, usability and clarity. Residents may experience reduced mobility, dexterity or cognitive function, making standard fixtures difficult to operate or recognise. This can lead to misuse, increased reliance on carers and a higher risk of injury.

The Solution

Galvin worked with Interite to supply a tailored combination of assistive tapware and dementia-friendly sanitaryware designed to improve safety, ease of use and visual clarity for residents.
