Exterior of Orygen Youth Health facility, designed to support youth mental health care and equipped with Galvin’s homely ligature resistant tapware and bathroom fixtures.

Project Description

The Orygen Youth Health Centre in Victoria underwent a two-stage facility upgrade from 2019 to 2020 with the primary goal of creating a safer experience for patients and staff. The upgrade included the addition of four new inpatient mental health beds and the enhancement of living and private treatment spaces.

To achieve a warm and inviting environment while adhering to strict high-level security and safety standards, Galvin Engineering products were incorporated into the design. Our ligature- and vandal-resistant products enable staff to control water flow, prevent self-harm, and vandalism. The products applied were carefully chosen to ensure a domestic appearance that would help normalise the healthcare space and improve rehabilitation times.
