Raising the Bar: Water-Efficiency Innovation at Optus Stadium

Project Overview

Voted “Most Beautiful Sports Facility in the World” in the Prix Versailles 2019 international architecture awards, Optus Stadium proudly shines through its unique bronze anodised aluminium façade and customisable LED lighting.

The 60,000 seat world-class multi-purpose venue is capable of hosting a range of sporting and entertainment events including AFL, cricket, rugby league and union, soccer and concerts.

Aiming to deliver on the “fan first” approach, offering users an exceptional experience no matter what event, the Galvin Specialised team designed a customised water solution for a healthier environment.

Being a local manufacturer, Galvin Specialised were able to provide quality customised product solutions and fast after sales service to ensure strict construction schedules were met.

To conform with the challenging maximum water usage limit that was set for the project, an innovative sequential urinal flushing system was developed and installed. Other benefits of this electronic urinal flushing solution are its robust nature and the added health benefits of handsfree activation.

Addressing health concerns around lead content in water, the R&D team at Galvin also provided high performance electronic lead free drinking bubblers that not only support the venue’s water saving goals but also ensure the delivery of safe drinking water. These bubblers were mounted on premium stainless-steel drinking fountains manufactured by another proud Australian company, Britex.
