The NDIS SDA Design Standard outlines four categories that guide design requirements, product selection and overall dwelling performance:
- Improved Livability – Housing designed to improve everyday livability by incorporating a reasonable level of physical access and enhanced usability for people with sensory, intellectual or cognitive impairment.
- Fully Accessible – Housing designed to provide a high level of physical access for people with significant physical impairment or higher support needs.
- Robust – Housing designed to be highly durable and resilient, with reasonable physical access provision, reduced maintenance requirements and lower risk to residents and the wider community.
- High Physical Support – Housing designed to provide a high level of physical access for people with significant physical impairment who require very high levels of physical support.
